Toyota Service & Repair in Folsom, CA

Family-owned expertise delivering quality service with honesty and transparency you can trust

Your Toyota was built to go a long way, and the right maintenance is what gets it there. At Shannon Family Automotive, our ASE-certified technicians work on Toyotas of every kind, from a first oil change on a new Corolla to hybrid battery testing on a high-mileage Prius. We’re an independent, family-owned shop on Sibley Street in Folsom, an easy drive from El Dorado Hills and Orangevale.

Why Use an Independent Toyota Shop Instead of the Dealer?

The dealer isn’t your only option for Toyota service, and for a lot of owners it isn’t the best one. Here’s what’s different when you bring your Toyota to us:

  • Lower cost: Independent shops generally have lower overhead than a dealership, and we don’t sell service packages your car doesn’t need. Check our current auto repair coupons before you book.
  • Talk to your technician: Have a question about your car? You can talk directly with the technician who works on it instead of passing messages through a service desk.
  • Free loaners: Free loaner vehicles are available for qualifying repairs, so your day doesn’t stop while your Toyota is in the shop.
  • Up to 3-year/36,000-mile warranty: We back our repairs ourselves, with coverage as strong as 3 years / 36,000 miles on parts and labor, depending on the parts you choose.

Worried about your factory warranty? Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, having maintenance done at an independent shop doesn’t void your Toyota warranty, as long as the maintenance is done on schedule and documented. We follow Toyota’s factory scheduled maintenance intervals, use parts and fluids that meet Toyota’s specifications, and give you an itemized invoice for every visit to keep with your records.

Toyota Hybrid Service: Prius, RAV4 Hybrid, Camry Hybrid and More

We see plenty of Toyota hybrids in Folsom, including the Prius, RAV4 Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, Corolla Hybrid, Highlander Hybrid and Sienna. A hybrid needs most of the same care as any other car, plus a few things that are specific to the hybrid system:

  • Hybrid battery testing: We check the health of the high-voltage battery so you know where it stands, whether you’re planning ahead or thinking about buying a used hybrid.
  • Inverter coolant service: Toyota hybrids use a separate cooling loop for the inverter, the part that manages power between the battery and the electric motors. That coolant has its own service schedule, and it’s easy to overlook.
  • Hybrid brakes: Regenerative braking does much of the work of slowing a hybrid down, so pads often last longer than on a gas-only car. The trade-off is that calipers and slide pins get less use and can stick or corrode, so we inspect the whole system, not just pad thickness. Some hybrid brake systems also need to be put in a service mode before work begins. More on our brake repair service.

  • Minivan: Sienna

Common Toyota Jobs We Handle

Here are a few of the jobs Toyota owners regularly bring us:

  • Factory scheduled maintenance on Camry, Corolla and RAV4: We handle the service your owner’s manual calls for at each mileage interval, and we explain what’s due now and what can wait.
  • Hybrid battery testing and inverter coolant service on Prius and RAV4 Hybrid: We check the high-voltage battery’s health and service the inverter cooling loop that often gets skipped.
  • Brake and suspension work on Tacoma, 4Runner and Tundra: Trucks and SUVs that tow, haul or head off-road work their brakes and suspension hard, so we inspect and repair both.

The everyday work keeps us busy too, from Toyota oil changes and fluid services to brakes, alignments and check engine light diagnostics.

We Service Lexus Too

Lexus is Toyota’s luxury brand, and many Lexus models are built on Toyota platforms and share engines and hybrid systems with their Toyota counterparts. The ES is closely related to the Camry, for example, and the RX to the Highlander. Our technicians work on both brands, so if there’s a Lexus in your driveway too, we can take care of it. Frequently Asked Questions About Toyota Service

No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, having maintenance done at an independent shop doesn’t void your Toyota factory warranty, as long as the maintenance is done on schedule and documented. We follow Toyota’s factory maintenance schedule and give you an itemized invoice for every visit, so keep those with your records. Repairs that are covered by the factory warranty itself are still handled by a Toyota dealer.

It depends on the engine. Most newer Toyota engines use a timing chain, which doesn’t have a set replacement interval but does rely on clean oil and regular oil changes. Some older V6 and V8 engines use a timing belt, which needs to be replaced on schedule. Your owner’s manual will tell you, or ask us and we’ll check for your model and engine. Learn more about timing belt replacement.

There’s no single answer. Hybrid battery life depends on age, mileage, heat and how the car is driven, and hot Folsom summers don’t help. Yes, we can test your hybrid battery and tell you where it stands. If your Toyota is newer, check whether the battery is still covered by Toyota’s hybrid warranty before paying for a replacement.

It depends on the job and the dealer, so we won’t promise a number here. Independent shops generally have lower overhead than dealerships, and we recommend only the services your Toyota actually needs instead of a bundled package. Ask us for an estimate. You’ll get a clear price up front, and nothing is done without your approval. It’s also worth checking our current auto repair coupons before you book.

Yes. Free loaner vehicles are available for qualifying services and repairs. They’re subject to availability, so ask for one when you book. You’ll need a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and to be at least 21. Here are the details on our free loaner vehicle program.

We back our repairs ourselves, with coverage as strong as 3 years / 36,000 miles on parts and labor depending on the parts you choose. We’ll go over the coverage for your repair before any work is approved, and there are no third-party claims to deal with. See the full repair warranty details.
