1. Identify Your Vehicle's Drivetrain Configuration
First, we identify your vehicle's drivetrain configuration. A front-wheel-drive Accord needs different services than an AWD Acura MDX or a 4WD Toyota 4Runner. We confirm which systems your vehicle has before recommending any service.
2. Inspect for Leaks and Contamination
Next, we inspect for leaks and contamination. We check fluid condition and look for leaks at seals and gaskets. Dark or burnt-smelling fluid signals a problem. Milky differential fluid means water intrusion, which changes the service approach.
3. Perform the Fluid Exchange
Then we perform the fluid exchange. We drain and refill each system with the fluid your manufacturer specifies. For Honda and Acura CVTs, we use Honda Genuine CVT fluid. For Toyota and Lexus automatics, we match the correct ATF grade to your model and year.
4. Check Fill Level and Retest
We check the fill level at operating temperature. Transmission and differential levels must be verified with the vehicle warmed up. An overfill causes the same damage as old fluid, and we verify the level before returning the vehicle.
5. Document and Advise on Next Interval
Finally, we document the mileage and advise on the next service interval. For vehicles with a history of infrequent changes, we may recommend a follow-up inspection after driving a few thousand miles.
